Like many blogs, I have the mouseover WoWHead links enabled. This allows you to see the details of what items/talents/abilities/glyphs/etc. I am referring to by simply mousing over linked text.
Examples:
Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle is the sexiest ranged weapon in the game.
Medivh is roughly as hot as Mega Man. (hint: I’m not being sarcastic.)
My Hunter’s Mark is bound to my pet attack via a macro, which makes the hunters in my guild with Improved Hunter’s Mark and Glyph of Hunter’s Mark want to hurl things at me.
And so on.
“Pike… duh” you are probably telling me.
But did you know that you can link to CHARACTERS as well?
Check this out:
My “main” is Tawyn. I also have a resto druid named Tamaryn and a Tauren Hunter named Lunapike.
My boyfriend hasn’t played in a long time, though.
But yeah, the point is…
IS THIS NOT THE COOLEST THING OF ALL TIME?
It’s really easy to do it, too. Just go to WoWHead Profiles and look yourself up, then link to yourself.
I am doing this for the rest of my blog’s existence. Just a heads-up. >_>
That’s pretty nifty that you can get tooltips for character links, I wasn’t aware of that.
But, did you know you can also do gems and other things? http://static.wowhead.com/widgets/power/demo.html?
@ Brandon – Oh yep, basically all items, I was aware of.
But totally wasn’t aware of the character thing, and it is the COOLEST THING EVAR.
…Holy cheese. Thank you so much for this post, I never would have figured it out by myself. This brings name dropping to a whole new level.
But sadly, none of those mouseover thingies are visible through (google) feedreaders… T_T
And my work computer blocks wowhead anyway. Boo.
Sorry, teh sexiest gun in teh game is Dragonbreath Hand Cannon
Piggypig, Malygos
Big Brother is watching! Tracking our every move, exposing our secrets through an elegant mouseover interface! >_> <_< o_o;
Oh my gosh awesome. Must test this out, but likelyhood of breaking it… very high.
So, I have an , a , and .
*twitch* I hate it when my mark gets overwritten…
Dear Blizzard: Please fix the weaker spell overwriting stronger ones that worked just fine until 3.2.
Thank you,
All guild Hunter’s Mark %*#%es
“My Hunter’s Mark is bound to my pet attack via a macro, which makes the hunters in my guild with Improved Hunter’s Mark and Glyph of Hunter’s Mark want to hurl things at me.”
Hehe… me too 😡
@Pike
Ur da man!!
@Pike
When u gonna start ur art commisions back up again?
I had never thought about that. I love that you can link your characters too!
I have wanted to set up the WowHead mouse overs since I first saw them on BRK’s site. Sadly, I use the free WordPress setup and they don’t allow the code to work (or maybe I’m just a noob who can’t help but break the code). Pretty sure Blogspot does the same thing, and I refuse to use my money to self-host just for fancy mouse overs.
/sigh
Oh well, guess I’ll just have to find a different toy to play with. 🙂
@ Kalvun – when I am less busy!
@ Eric – It works on Blogspot… at least, it did when I was over there! /nod
Funny thing… my HM is also bound to petattack (and Kill Command), but I have the exact same macro sans HM that I’ll switch out should I find someone with a specced or glyphed HM. But that involves actually looking at people’s gear at the start of a run and I’ve never been a serious gear checker. So lately, (maybe I need a break too), I’ve just been neglecting it and throwing my mark out as normal. I’ve gotta take Kill Command and move it one of these days as I’m wasting mana refreshing HM before it’s needed. But on the bright side, HM never falls off, lol.
I’ve had this functionality @ Hearthstone for a long long time.
