In Case I Led Anyone Astray…

So in my last post I made a gigantically huge and horrific typo and got Longevity and Invigoration confused. Thanks Kantaro for pointing this out.

Just to be clear:

Longevity is the godly talent that I think every BM hunter should have.

Invigoration and Cobra Strikes are iffy to me at this point, and I don’t have either included in my talent build. This may change, but for now… they are not worth it.

That is all. Hopefully nobody thinks I have absolutely lost it for waxing philosophical on the virtues of a talent that I don’t even take. >.> Carry on!

  1. The ironic thing is that I got a bit confused, went to figure out this Invigoration thing, and discovered that it does something I really, really love the look of, and will be respeccing into soon. xD

  2. I agree Pike. I skipped over Invigoration and Cobra Strikes as well. In a raid setting there are enough buffs going around to maintain your mana. I was able to DPS all of Patchwerk, for example, having external replenishment and mana restoring methods without having to switch to Viper at all.

  3. Yeah those both seem iffy to me. I’m still debating on whether to keep them in the end. I’m speccing into them for the moment though

  4. It’s ok Pike. Heaven knows I get certain words *stuck* in my mind even when I’m talking about something else. Just glad I could help you catch it 🙂

On the other hand I’m really excited to be mentioned in a post, made my night!

I think I may spec into invigoration just while leveling or farming, seems like a good enough solo talent to me.

  5. having just done patchwork im considering trying invigoration… i had to viper a full mana bar 3 – 4 times and it just gets annoying.

  6. I’ve been thinking about invigoration and at first I thought it was pretty lackluster but when I blow through a 10k mana pool in about 15 seconds on a boss fight in an instance, I think I may give it a try. Bite, claw, and smack all count as specials so if you routinely turn them off or if you’re levelling it may not be as good but when you hit 80 and start gearing up for raids and heroics and your mana pool grows it may be more noticeable when you get 1k mana back as opposed to say 800 mana per pet crit.

Cobra strikes is also weird. If it had a 33/66/100 progressive scale instead of the 20/40/60, it would be awesome. But now, it just seems to proc at completely random times. I could go for three or four pulls and not have it proc at all, and then have it proc three times in one fight.

  7. I didn’t spec into Cobra Strikes until I started doing heroics but I have found it to proc often enough to it to give me about 100-150 dps more on boss and elite fights in instances.

Invigoration’s usefulness really depends on whether you have a mana battery in your party on a regular basis. I burn through my mana pool almost every boss fight without one. Thank the light for Runic Mana Potions or I’d have to pop into viper two thirds of the way though a fight.

Still didn’t spec into invigoration though as I wanted improved mend and revive pet. Min/maxers say you could use those points better elsewhere but I don’t like my pets dying as I don’t have the much vaunted (BRK trademark) 2 piece T5 bonus. ;P

    Crazy non-recommended 53/18/0 spec here http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Dragonblight&n=Randomaina

  8. To quote EJ :
“Any special moves with a duration (like the spirit beast’s spirit strike or the cat’s rake) can be messed up by the longevity talent in the beast mastery tree. For example, spirit strike will become available before the last tick of the DoT, and when the pet tries to auto-cast it, it will be told that there is already a stronger effect on the target. This will cause the pet to cast a focus dump, and not be able to reapply the DoT for a few seconds.”

    Just an FYI for Longevity.
